Session Objectives:

1. Enhance Understanding of Inclusive Behaviors: Participants will gain insights into how vulnerability, empathy, courage, and grace can be practiced and modeled within the workplace.

2. Promote Psychological Safety: Equip leaders and employees with strategies to create a psychologically safe environment that encourages risk-taking, innovation, and mutual respect.

3. Translate Courage into Action: Inspired by the story of Nichelle Nichols, provide actionable steps for individuals to embody and promote courage in their daily work.

4. Foster a Culture of Grace: Highlight the importance of extending grace in the workplace, allowing for mistakes, learning, and growth while building an environment of trust and support.

Action #1 - Create a “Courage Circle”

Create a Peer Group for Courageous Leadership Inspired by Atlassian’s “Health Monitor” sessions, form a “Courage Circle” in your team where members regularly meet to discuss challenges, share successes, and practice open communication. This simple practice can significantly boost psychological safety and team cohesion. You can use sites like “Atlassian Team Playbook” as a resource

Action #2 - Launch a “Storytelling” initiative

Use Stories to Build Empathy and Inclusivity Take inspiration from Microsoft’s “Storytelling for Good” campaign, where employees share personal stories to foster understanding and inclusion. Encourage your team to share their experiences in a safe space, helping to build empathy and drive cultural change.

Action #3 - Create a regular practice of open dialog

Create a Regular Practice for Open Dialogue Inspired by Google’s practice of regular team feedback sessions, start “Feedback Fridays” where your team can openly discuss what’s working and what’s not. This consistent, structured approach can lead to greater transparency, trust, and continuous improvement.
